Good education starts with reading. Theres a strong correlation between reading and career success.

The G Lynn Campbell Library is somewhat an icon in our community. Its always been a great place to stop in and find a few books and visit with the wonderful library staff. Its size has always been a hindrance to the library. The aisle are small, and the selection of books, although adequate, is also limited.

When the new township hall was built, that left Kleckner Hall vacant. What a great opportunity for the township to stand up for the library and allow the library to more than double its size by giving it Kleckner Hall as well as its current location. Yet, the township seems determined to keep parts of the hall for storage. This despite, a new hall with some much empty space it looks like a ghost town at times.

The solution given by Supervisor Portis is to allow the library to take the Kleckner Hall side and the township would use the smaller side as storage. However, the move to the new hall has taken well over a year. This because the hall lacked the electricity necessary to support the library computers and other equipment.

This still does not address the overall issue of the library size. When comparing square footage of the library to the population it serves, the G Lynn Campbell Library is much smaller than other of the St Clair County Library System libraries. This shows the lack of vision for a community that needs a larger library.

As your supervisor I will do everything within my power to give our library the entire Allen Road building. Files that are currently stored in boxes, can be imaged digitally with technology readily available. Please vote for Robert Usakowski on November 5.

******* UPDATE ********

Thank you to the board, which has now given the library the entire hall. SOME of our board was supportive from the beginning. Others have joined in as the election has drawn near.
